The "Song and the Story'" is a must for anyone who wants to dip their toe into singing in Irish Gaelic. For this 6-week course I choose a variety of songs which are on the simpler end of the spectrum of Gaelic song. The class is aimed at those with little or no experience of listening / singing in the Irish Traditional style. Gaelic words can be challenging but students often underestimate how complex and unusual the melodies can be. Traditional Irish songs are based on modes and not 'intuitive' to those who have been exposed to the diatonic scale (doh / re / mi ...). This course will help tune your ear into both the Irish words and music and that will really help if you want to join classes such as the Faerie or Keen classes which I will be resuming in 2023!  Learning Irish Singing is, like any other musical skill, a series of steps which are then practiced. This class should put you on that all-important first step!

THE FIRST STEP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!
